WHY ECA?

The school serves students ages 14-21 in Franklin County and its contiguous counties who are either one cohort age behind or have experienced crises that have interfered with their academic progress. Most of our students will be first-generation college students.  It is our mission to help those students transition from high school to college successfully.

While at ECA, students are given the opportunity to earn college credits through a partnership with Columbus State Community College. All of our teachers are certified by the Ohio Department of Education.

OUR STUDENTS

Our students, grades 9 through 12, have not excelled in the traditional high school setting and are behind in their Ohio core graduation requirements. That is where we come in, our ‘whole-student’ approach addresses outside barriers that may hinder a student’s success – inside and outside the classroom. Our family is a safety net for students who may have slipped through the cracks. Our goal is to ensure they successfully earn a high school diploma.

OUR HISTORY

With a long-standing reputation in the community, Academic Acceleration Academy was Columbus City School’s first charter school. Today, Early College Academy continues to be known for preparing youth to make academic strides toward their high school diploma.

WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE

These students enrolled in a school created especially for them. Learn at your own pace, maximize your potential and get on track for a career, college or both!
  • Keyonna, ECAECA never gave up on me and I did it! It took a while but I still got it done!
  • Kameron , ECA

I just want to say thank you to Mr. Stevens, he never gave up on me. When I stopped going to school, he made sure I got it done. Thank you!

  • Ty’Quan It’s all love! ECA impacted me. They really try to help you pass and get to where you gotta go. Look at where it got me. I recommend everyone to go there, just like I did
  • Ibrahim, ECAECA gave me a second chance when I didn’t have one and I’m so grateful for every student and every teacher. Whoever joins ECA, joins a family.
  • ZaireI went to a hectic school before and was bullied a lot. ECA was a lot better for me and I didn’t have to deal with a lot of that stress and anxiety, it was a smaller and more comforting space. It was easy to make a family there in a short amount of time. I’m very thankful
